Since no one else has made one yet, I figured I would. There needs to be a Scottfest 2014! Anyone with me? Or am I the only one who wants to do this? I want to hang out, do junkyard runs, kick everyone's ass at the dragstrip and not stay up all night and not work on my car (for those of you there last year, know what I'm talking about lol)! Lets go!!! I figure the second weekend in August (following the past events) which would put Scottfest 2014 August 8th to the 11th.

If my wife will let me go, I might consider bringing the Mad Marquis... especially if Ivan could fab up another of those grill guards. Will need to talk to the wife though.

A shame she and little Jane can't come too! Would be a lot of fun! Haven't seen Anne since Scottfest '11

I'm up for it, but it may be another year with the Mark VII if I don't find someone to put the towncar back together yet again. Or maybe I'll just bring the damn Chevy, its more useful for junkyard runs.

I was going to wait until next weekend to start this thread becuase it would have been 6 months out, but this works too!
I'll be there.
What vehicle I bring depends on if/when we buy a house this summer.
Well, I could just bring the Tank and ring out John's box on the track.

I don't think I'll be able to make it again this year...but maybe someday lol. 2800 miles and two 8 hour ferry crossings to get there and come home again is a long trip!

I will bring chips. There's a chip factory just up the road from me with bulk kettle cooked chips, + maybe tortilla chips too. I can probably score buns too since I work at a factory bakery that distributes to 9+ states. Just let me know an estimate of what's needed.

This is going to be second weekend of August 9-10 or whatever like always right? Because I actually scored that week off work on paid vacation this year.

Which car(s) should I bring?

That car's never been on a trailer!
I've driven it as far as 3+ hours to race it. Can't recline seat because of the roll bar, which was built to function as a tire rack, slicks & skinnies fill the backseat/hatch area, jack & misc tools on backseat floor, race supply box in spare tire well, cooler, brain bucket etc in remaining hatch area, It gets pretty crowded on race day LOL

That sounds like a lopy cam. You gonna drive that to SF?

I really wanted to go with the N91, but I'll save that for my next build. That would require notching the pistons.

The N41 is streetable. Power from 2500-6200, I believe. So I'll need to move the shift point up a bit in the vb :cool_shades:

Advertise Duration .006 - Intake:278 / Exhaust: 286
Duration at .050 - In:222 / Ex:230
Timing events at .050 - In: 1/41 Ex: 45/5
Lobe Lift @ Cam - In:.320 / Ex:.320
Gross valve lift w/ 1.6 - In:.512 / Ex:.512
Lobe Seperation 110
Degree intake lobe to 106

The 110 LSA makes it chop a bit at idle. Should sound gnarly.

Not sure if I'd venture out to PA with the car. Not without fixing the gas gauge and speedometer.

Motor City Patrick well...(and don't quote me...lol) every august we (us panther loving members of the forum) gather at scotts automotive in pennslyvania for a weekend and we get together and do "car guy" stuff , including, but not limited to drag racing at the local dragstrip. we tour the local brewery. we cook out . there has been some reasonable alcohol consumption known to happen. some members bring various foodstuffs to sample. there is ample camping available.some sleep in there cars , some stay at a nearby hotel/motel. the "traditional" junk yard run is also a feature along with many other various activities too numerous to list here. most members bring either and ample supply of food and or cash to help out. (ample being a very "liberal" term, basically everyone tries to chip in so no one goes hungry or thirsty)...we have a great time , and everyone leaves with a bunch of awesome B.S. stories to hold them over until the next scottfest.......all kidding aside . its a great time , and something you will never forget( in a good way) . I have been to the last two events and had a fantastic time, met a lot of members from this forum. if you can fit it into your schedule, show up, have a blast and just relax and enjoy yourself......not many "rules" , just the obvious stuff. be nice ,don't be an ass, don't rape, murder pillage...ya know...normal rules of society (nothing that is cast in stone as far as I know....).....hope this helps, if anyone else can elaborate further, or remember some of the stuff I forgot (like the dam name of the freaking brewery , sorry, I don't drink , but it IS a good tour)please do so for patrick

I have vacation time to burn. I'm at 153 hours, and I can only get to 160 before it stops accumulating. I actually will have to take a day off in the next week or so just to keep it from capping out. I get 3 weeks (120 hours) a year now on top of whats banked so I'll be there. I may make it a longer weekend just to use the time up. Thats also about when I'll be released from taxi service, and I'll be damn glad of it. I hope people don't mind driving me around some though. By that point I'll be so tired of driving people that I'll be very happy to sit my ass in the passenger seat and look out the window.

Sweet! It would be cool to see both your cars, but i assume you will be bringing Alesha, as it is a panther haha. Never seen a 255 before!

sly
03-24-2014, 10:48 PM
IIRC, the 255 is just a skinny bore 302, so externally it's the same... but I could be completely wrong.

Brown_Muscle
03-24-2014, 10:54 PM
255 smaller bore and 289 smaller stroke eh? Strange they bring back the 289 at the time...but the whole thing is strange. Either way, never seen one before!

It'd be a miracle if Charlette made it. She's got alooooot a lot a lot of work before she's ready for highway. But yes Alesha wil be with me and all you mangs finally get to meet me and my ride. As for the motor, I believe the block itself is shorter could be wrong but I believe it is because if it's bored to make it a 302 the cylinder walls get crazy thin. But it does have same layout and most 302 parts fit. For example I have 5.0 mustang shorties on it

Word of warning guys..she sounds mean but is nowhere near fast hahahah

gadget73
03-25-2014, 09:01 PM
The 255 looks like a 302, but it has a turkey pan under the intake. Kinda looks like an Olds or Pontiac engine in that respect. Thats actually the only obvious identifier. That intake is to my knowledge unique to the 255.

No matter the rarity, or the desirability, it is only worth what it means to you (emotionally) or what it is worth to someone else (monetarily)....

sxcpotatoes
04-04-2014, 02:50 PM
Yay! Glad roof is fixed & Scott is doing a little better.

You know you can send a certified letter to the collection people saying the only way to communicate with you is thru mail No Phone! and if the violate your wishes you can sue them for $1000 per violation of the fair debt collection practices act. I'm sure you'll have to trick their address out of them without promising to pay, and give them a little time to remove you from their calling list, reminding them a few times if they call.

But after that, $1000 per harrassing phone call can add up. You may wind up having to file multiple small claims court cases to get the money you're owed, especially if one of the shadier companies. Technically I believe they are supposed to stop calling as soon as they get the letter, and there are plenty of guides on the internet for suing those vultures. And if they don't show, you win.

ALWAYS travel with my "Rambo Pussy" so HS just has to deal with it! Seriously, though, my health has me grounded for ANY long trips. Most of the time, even short trips are out as it is difficult to know how I am going to feel from day to day or even minute to minute. Crushing headaches and other issues make me "non-functional". I am overdue for trips to Europe (particularly, France) and some fund raisers for the St. Jude's Children's Hospital - not likely right now! REALLY wish I could come up and meet all my mangs, finally face to face, Too bad as I think I could keep everyone WELL entertained....Bobby

Lets set up a food schedule for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Those are the main days that people are going to be there.
John, are you bringing Pretzels???
Jim, Are you going to make some chili again?

Ok, We'll need pop (soda) chips, plates, cutlery, napkins, beer, etc.
To make this work, I need everyone to chip in and bring stuff, or donate ahead of time.
Please respond with what you will bring. I'd like to have a soft "menu" in a few weeks. I think it would help, knowing whats for dinner.
Also, who's bringing the Little Debbies Cakes?
Thank you.

I'll show up, help with shopping and purchasing of said shopping spoils. Been rolling coins, so it'll be like "free" money. As a bonus, we get to piss off the WalMart people by bringing in $100 or so worth of metal to pay for food. They did not find that amusing the last time we did it :)

I honestly don't bring much with me other than cash because I can't really get it cheaper here. I may bring some corn if there is interest but otherwise it makes more sense to shop once in PA. I do get better corn down here tho. I can bring some poisonfruit (tomatoes) too if anyone wants, but I personally find them rather gross unless converted into sauce.

I also live a couple miles down the road from a massive potato chip factory and can snag 3 lb. bags of kettle-cooked chips for $4 a pop. Flavours vary, can get plain/regular or cheese or bbq or kc masterpiece bbq flavour. Sometimes garlic parmesan or other flavours rarely.

Just give me a list mangs by midweek.

I was hoping to make my first appearance at SF this year. I even had what I thought was going to be the hardest detail taken care of: convincing the wife.
As it turns out she didn't have any objection to it, but with a few things not going the way I had imagined financially this year I'm not sure that I would be comfortable making the trip.

At least for next year I know my wife will be up for it and getting time off from work is not an issue. Now that I've gotten things taken care of financially that needed to be addressed, funds should not be an issue next year either.

I ordered new lifters & pushrods for the 85, if this cures the TAP-TAP-TAPing I used to be able to flush away, I'll be driving it, everyone can see how rusty she's getting, lol.

PS, there will be shenanigans. :quagmire:

Scottmang, you can expect my usual donation :D

so should I haul up albums, or just annoy people with random play on the ipod? If other people want to bring records, I'll haul the record changer up. Its a nice one, so no worries about album shredding.

I like records. Any genera. I personally don;t own any of my own records to bring up but wouldn't mind hearing what anyone else may have.

Could be three, but I'd suffer permanent hearing loss if I were to run my coupe out there!

Or you could toss some shitty mufflers on it temporarily! You know it could be done!

and don't drive over my garden in the middle of the night drunk looking for a campsite. and skippy requested that there be no cars in the pond, so don't forget that it's there.

As much as I'd like to have my car out there, it just is not in the cards. It has not proven to be very reliable.

Perhaps I can catch a ride with the CT crew.
