    New Merc Owner

I inheritted a 91 GM LS, 50k. I had to replace a rusty fuel line along the chassis but other than that and a tune up it runs great. It's been on the road for over a month now. I'm not use to driving in such luxury. 3 cigarette lighters, interior lights up the wazzoo, comfort, light in the door key slot, like I died and went to heaven, lol. The car has been sitting in a garage for the past ten years, very little use.
I do have a question about the shift lever. Seems kind of sloppy. To back up I have to go to N then back to R and it just don't feel right. It hasn't failed me yet but wanted to know if this sounds familiar to anyone. The trans is an OD unit I think, P R N D D 1.

i had something else here until I realized you have a 91 with the other style shifter. Check the bolts under the column. The 91 has an aluminum shift tube that operates a cable. The bolts underneath get loose sometimes and make the shifter sloppy. The tubes also crack and cause wierd problems, but usually you'll lose gears completely when that happens.

welcome! It's good to see another one of these back on the road.

If it's been sitting that long, your tires are probably dryrotted as hell, you'll also want a new fuel filter if it wasn't included in the tuneup. Also check that you have the brass TV cable bushing.

Thank you sir. Those two torx screws were almost completely backed out. Snugged them up and it's good as new. Thanks again.
