I guess? Didn't that become a Fairmont later on? Ford had a love affair with the fox platform in the 80s and almost every car was based off that platform at the time.

    2004 Ford Mustang - September 2013 - February 2018

Pretty cheap for this mini LTD ! Too bad it is not the police package version. I believe the suspension needs heavier parts other than sway bars. Heavier brakes, 5 wheel studs instead of 4 etc. Good project to be continued.

Not a bad price. Before I got my first '90 CV I looked at one of these. Pics looked good but up close it was kinda scary. Had the full mustang dash swap and 5-speed, with a fuel-injected engine out of a '90GT. Thing drove like total crap, leaked all kinds of fluids, and the guy wanted like $3500 for it or some shit. I made him an offer which he was insulted by, and after the fact kicked myself for even offering him that much, lol. Never heard back from him and it sat on craigslist forever. I love the fox-box cars and really want another zephyr. One popped up not long ago and disappeared quick. It was a '78 4-door zephyr with a 302/auto. They wanted too much for it but it must have sold because it wasn't on there long. Dang it. There's a blue 2-door Fairmont I've been eying for a while. It's straight if not terribly pretty, and it's only $1100. Should I buy it?

Argh, I hate fuel cells.. That thing looks like it has had plenty of hot suppers. I'd pass.

that looks like a swap to me, only cars that EVER got the 302 5.0 were cop-cars and fire-fighter units, fuel cell in the trunk is a BIG red flag, who knows if the extra dash gauges were just added in or were factory (doubtful, especially with the miscoloured interior, hard pass.
              ,
Slicktop '91 GS HO 4.30 rear. '82 Mark VI Tudor HO, '90 F-150 XLT, '62 project Heep, '89 Arizona Waggin' and '88 donor in PA, getting combined.

If it is the sports coupe with a 302, I would seriously consider it. 2 door hardtop maybe but it has no style. 6 cyl. are great for around town. 4 cyl. stay away from. Interior decent? Low miles ?

ID:	1281618 I owned. When I worked at the wrecking yard, I bought it and put another motor in it. It was a beauty. $400 including replacement motor. That was in 1988. Notice the picture is from one of the old instant picture cameras.

Beyond the police model LTDs, there were two civilian ones that got it. LTD LX and Marquis LTS both came with 302 HO motors and unique gauge packages. The Marquis LTS was a unique to Canada only model with super low production numbers. Both have more unique exterior trimmings, more notably less chrome trim bits.

                  Here's a pair of '85 models:

FWIW, the car in the listing is not an LX, so it would have been equipped with the 3.8 V6. That 302 was definitely swapped in.

Ewww I think the coupes are horrid looking. You're talking about the Fairmont future or zephyr z7? Yeah never did like those. It's just a lowly 2-door sedan with the good ol' 3.3 I6. Nothing special for sure but I love these cars. They're simple, reliable, and also on a fox chassis and the possibilities are limitless. Had big plans for my zephyr wagon but it was taken from me too soon. The boring old 6 is not exciting but they damn fool things run forever.

As for the LTD's, the old 3.8 v6 was kind of a turd and the car wasn't long on style, but again, fox chassis! I like alternative mustangs, especially now that I have a 4-door fetish. I also owned an '82 Capri RS, an '82 5.0 coupe, and a '90 mustang gt hatch. Out of all the cars, I think I liked the zephyr wagon the best, lol. Not sure about the LTD's but the other early Fox-Boxes were pretty light cars so a little work would go a long way. A healthy small-block in one of these could be a lot of fun. Or a coyote....

The car in the picture is a 4 door. It was as clean as you could get them. The car you are looking at would not be bad. I had a Mercury version of the 2 dr sedan with the 6 cly. Had over 200k. when I got it for $175. It has more headroom than the Futura or Z-7. Wagons are nice if you can find them. They don't carry much weight though. I really like the Futura model that was made to look like the Ranchero. I think it was called the Durango. Just a few specially made. I know Galpin Ford in LA had them.
If you look past the Fairmont in of the pictures, there is a white 79 Toyota Celica. My ex wife was a front passenger in that when it went off the road and rolled a few times into the desert. Crash should have killed her. The top of the passenger seat was sticking outside of the car. She had minor injuries. God had other plans for her.
I guess part of that plan was for me to go through divorce, 9 years of alimony payments and forever paying her part of my retirement. That's ok, it is only money and she is still alive.
