    Air Intake Silencer Removal

Heard about removing air intake silencers can dramatically increase the Engine sound. Where could I find it?
Figure it can't be too hard on the air box somewhere, but I would rather get some information rather than tearing it apart and hoping for the best.
Please don't tell me something extremely general, I need information that can help me point it out in an instant.
Also, any warnings or effects of removing this?
    Thanks!

for specific info, please let us know what model car you have. They're typically on the intake hose and you can pop them off (or cut if they're molded) and plug the holes.

depends what it is. Lincolns have it in the air tube and in the airbox, others have it in just the airbox. The square cars don't have a silencer. If you have a round car, remove the airbox from the fender. Sticking out of the front, you'll see a thing that looks like an inverted funnel. Remove that, and re-install the airbox. THats it. It will sound faster, but probably won't do much else for you.

I don't think a 2001 GM has an intake silencer!

Figures, I couldn't find anything online and couldn't find anything that looked particularly interesting when I went out there to look at it.

The closest thing to removing the silencer is cutting holes in the bottom of the airbox (where the air filter is). This will gain little to no horsepower, but does sound cooler and won't do anything bad other than maybe dirtying the filter more quickly.
