Intake manifold, late to the Party

My 2001 GM has one of the infamous plastic manifolds. It has a slight leak. I bought the car in 2003 and I remember some discussion about this but for whatever reason it never came up to get it replaced under the extended warranty, which I believe expired in 2005 or 2006. So, what do I do now? Will Ford honor a warranty request so long after the expiration or do I just wait it until it blows out and buy a metalic one?
    TIA!

at this point I think you're SOL on the recall. I'd probably leave it alone but keep an eye on it. Fix it when it becomes a problem.

A friend of mine had the same problem and took his car to Ford. The dealer told him those claims ended long ago but they would be happy to replace his intake for $1200. We got one from the JY, even used the gaskets that came with it and put it on. That was two years ago and the car is doing just fine today.
Total cost was less than $100 including new anti-freeze.

My '98 is showing the beginnings of coolant weepage at the heater hose nipple at the back. This is my number one Spring project to replace it. Plan to order a stock manifold from Amazon.

In the meantime I have loosened the radiator cap to relieve pressure and no highway driving for now as I have no desire to see a fountain of coolant suddenly appear on the windshield.
