The first thing that came to mind at this point is make damn sure your battery is disconnected if you haven't already. You will have to take the wires off the starter at some point, and you don't want to do that when current can still run through them.

I don't recall exactly how I found the top bolt on mine. I guess you just have to visualize where the starter mounting holes should be and feel your way around. I'm not sure how your car would compare to mine, but I was able to put my hand over the entire starter and feel around. When I found the bolt head initially, I actually had to keep feeling around to make sure that I was feeling what I thought I was feeling. It's kind of like creating a visual image with your sense of touch.

As for getting the starter out once the bolts are out and putting it back in, in my experience, there are no fancy tricks. You might have to support the starter when taking out the last bolt so the starter does not fall on you. When putting one in, it's just a matter of making sure the bolt holes line up. It might be one of those things that's easy only after you've actually done it once.

if the two bolts up top are off... then the third one should be easy to spot from below.

the starter may be corroded in place and need a little persuasion to come loose. tap it with some persuasion and see if it'll wiggle at all.

Once you figure out the first one, the rest should be cake. I suppose you could try asking to see one at a parts store so you can get a better sense of how things are oriented. Sometimes pictures don't tell the whole story.

also, I've had to use extensions and swivel joints to get at that hidden top bolt. The extensions were all the way out past the engine crossmember, just short of the radiator. That one was a royal PITA to get at. It's MUCH easier on the older 302 powered cars.

                  Hhhhoooollllyyyy!!!!!

Well got the starter fixed and oil changed....NOW I HAVE A BIG ISSUE!

This will be the deal breaker if I keep or sell it..

After the oil change it started leaking oil I drove for maybe a combine total of 20 miles....maybe more....BUT What I DIDN'T know is that when off...it drips slowly, however when on the leak got progressively worse! And only now did i see that when running its final mile in a half drive home it was leaking like MT. RUSHMORE JUST POURING!!!!! EVERYWHERE!!!! WTF!!! It had no oil in the dip stick and this is what I HATE about aeros....the not worth a $HIT instrument cluster! My 96 has everything! No oil light came on to tell me hello no oil!! when driving home I didn't feel or hear anything....it still ran as smooth as a baby! And thats what kills me is the valve stems weren't leaking, the exhaust smells good and it *ucking ran so SMOOOOOTH!!!

                  WHY FORD WHY!!!!

can you find where it's leaking from? depending on where it's coming from will depend on just how much a PITA the fix is.

May sound like a dumb question but is the drain pan bolt tight (not striped)? Also, was the old oil filter gasket left on the car in error when replacing with a new one (I assume you did the filter as well as the oil)? Just asking....
