Oil change coming up - last one before winter!

Got about 700 miles (I change my oil every 3,000miles) until my final oil change before the leaves start falling. I will be using castrol syntec 5w-20 & Bosch distance plus oil filter (all from wal mart). What are thoughts on my choice of oil and filter? Should I be putting additives in for the winter? 2002 MGM

I use OEM oil or Mobil 1 along with a Motorcraft Filter but you should be fine with what you are using especially at those intervals!! Bobby

That sounds good. I'd go 5000+miles no worries with that combo. My Mazda (ford engine) gets oil every 6000 miles or 10 months with the same weight and quality oil. My shop sets it at 7500km with synthetic, so ~4500 miles and that's conservative.

Hmm maybe I will go 5000. I used to go 5,000 on my truck with the same oil in 10w-30 but it was always really dark when I drained it. Maybe just because I abused the truck harder?

3K miles certainly wouldn't hurt but is probably overkill. With Mobil 1 or semi-synth oil, I have gone over 7K, over many years, with no issues. Naturally, YMMV!!!
