Im gonna put a new computer in..

Im gonna eventually get the marauder airbox and the pi intake manifold

so what computer should I buy to put in now.. and will still work when I put the new intake mani- and the airbox in?
What year is your car again?
I'm pretty sure you'll need a tune to take advantage of the MM airbox/MAF...regardless of which computer you install. I have heard that the '99 computers are pretty good and that the PI computers have a different idle speed, shift points etc., but someone here will know more than me, as I'm not as up on the newer stuff as I should be..

Okay so anyway... I did bring it back on topic a few days ago, but someone brought up bullet calibers and ballistics... :/

      I was asking...

To replace the NPI Intake Mani - and NPI Heads

      to PI intake and heads

what do I have to do?

will i need anything else other than gaskets?

EDIT... Dident read the top.. sorry..

Okay so waht is better? a 99 computer? or an 01 (Im guessing thats the PI computer)

A Marauder airbox uses a larger MAF sensor and will require a computer tune to work.

You will also need new head bolts, as Ford uses TTY bolts which are one-use only.

How many miles on the timing chains. You'll want to change those and the tensioners while you've got the thing apart.

is it even worth putting new head on a 90k engine?

Pay attention when browsing the ADTR site. The info is there, this is it as quoted from their site...

I have disassembled several very high mileage (350-600K miles) failed 4.6 engines. All of them had a good bit of topend wear of course, after that kind of mileage, but the bottom ends hold up amazingly well. It has baffled me over and over. Other than money, I can't give you any reason why I wouldn't put new heads on even a 200K 4.6 motor. On a 99 or 00, yes, I would go ahead and do timing chains & guides if swapping heads, as those are the only two MY's I have seen fail prematurely (or maybe I've just been lucky) but I wouldn't waste money doing it on any other MY unless there was an issue with them.

Save yourself some $ and just swap in the cams and intake. You get approximatley 90% of the PI headswap's gains with just the PI cams. Plus, your compression ratio will not change.

When I swapped cams, I replaced the guides. Then chains were in perfect shape, as were the tensioners.

                                BMFer-

Have you noticed any signs of detonation on the pistons? I have heard that the pistons in high-mileage older Panthers do show signs of detonation. And how are the rings doing at that point?
IMHO puting brand-new heads on a 200K mile block is asking for trouble. Any ring wear will just be more obvious with new heads that breathe/seal better.
IMHO there is a risk of breaking rings. Obviously it depends...but I wouldn't risk it. Just my opinion...
