Anybody replace bushings on a rack and pinion, Aero car?

My buddy has a 2005 Town Car, once in a while he hears a clunk. Has all new tie rods, ball joints etc. Has a little play in the steering wheel. Do the racks have bushings where they are bolted on? WagonMan

Looks like a solid mount. But also check the sway bar links. Those are the usual suspects.

but the fat aero (whale) does on 2003+ and he's asking about a 2005 towny.

Probably that WagonMan called a 2005 Towny an aero, even though one would be mostly considered as a "whale"

Sorry, I know boxes, but assumed anything newer than 91 is an aero. WagonMan

Most people outside of the enthusiast crowd think this as well. When they ask what a whale is, I tell them the later fat aero that started in 98.
