    what socket size fot coolant temp sensor for computer

    Hey guys what's the socket size for removing the ect sensor near the heaterhose outlet? I broke mine today while at school. Is it ok to drive while the sensor is broke? or will it give bad info to the computer.

    if the ECT isnt giving signal to the computer, the computer thinks its constantly in warm-up (closed loop) and dumps fuel, id get it fixed as soon as i could... .... you can use the car if u make quick trips, its been realatively cool in the morning, i havent cracked 190* yet in the morning. i drive 695 (20mi) everyday over the keybridge and aslong as the traffic is flowing and i can get in open wind motor keeps relatively cool at 70+mph. i havent exactly watched to see when the o2's kick on, but i believe its somewhere between 140* 160*.......

    I know the idiot light sensor is a 19mm.... if id had to guess id say a 22,24, or 27mm.... the sensor itself is larger.... 2wire i think

      Sounds like a job for the adjustable wrench. I forget what size it is, I want to say 15/16" but don't quote me on that.

        Deep well 1" socket fits snuggly on my ECT sensor.

          just installed my sensor today Also replaced by pass hose was pissing coolent today

            replace all those hoses before the replace engine light comes on

            1986 lincoln towncar signature series. 5.0 HO with thumper performance ported e7 heads, 1.7 roller rockers, warm air intake, 65mm throttle body, 1/2" intake spacer, ported intakes, 3.73 rear with trac lock, 98-02 front brake conversion, 92-97 rear disc conversion, 1" rear swaybar, 1 3/16" front swaybar, 16" wheels and tires, loud ass stereo system, badass cb, best time to date 15.94 at 87 mph. lots of mods in the works 221.8 rwhp 278 rwt
            2006 Lincoln Town Car Signature. Stock for now
            1989 Ford F-250 4x4 much much more to come, sefi converted so far.
            1986 Toyota pickup with LSC wheels and 225/60/16 tires.
            2008 Hyundai Elantra future Revcon toad
            1987 TriBurner and 1986 Alaska stokers keeping me warm. (and some pesky oil heat)

            please be patient, rebuilding an empire!
