Well, I'm good friends with Kinsler Jr. from Kinsler Fuel Injection, and he might be able to get me a set of their velocity-stacks intake systems for a decent price. Question is, do I want it? The velocity stacks can be tall all the way up to the hood, or even poking through it (remember the scoop?) so their length will be at least double of what the stock ones are (good for low end torque), and they will flow better than the stock HO piece which will be perfect for future head upgrades. Whan are the downsides of using an intake like that, apart from the risk of sucking rain water through the scoop?

You will sacrifice daily drivability. I don't know if you ever cared to think of it, but do you see an air filter on that? You could stick a small filter on each one, but then you lose pretty much all the velocity stack advantages, as they are not designed for filters. Without filtration, it's not something you wanna drive every day.

It kicked butt. Plus there were three sizes of intake runners.
Just throughing something like that on your engine without other upgrades might be a bit of a waist of cash. If your shooting for 400 plus HP with injection another matter. For most of our stuff it would be over kill. My quad motor would love it.Scars are tatoos of the fearless

I have been wondering is someone made something like that, but DAMN! $500!!! And if that goes on top of the stacks, then that thing is gonna be like the empire state building coming out of the hood.

Its made out of Carbon fiber. and the $500 price tag is nothing compared to the $3000 minimum cost of going with a Hilborn system.http://secondhandracing.com/Home.aspx

Blaze, Jim Kinsler used his LS1-powered racecar as a daily driver pretty much all summer long, never had any problems with it. He does have some filters on it though, not sure what exactly but there is something. For my application I was thinking of doing something like a shaker hood, throw some insulation around the velocity stacks so they only suck air though the scoop, and then fab some filter for the front opening of the scoop.
Dave, well I have some plans for the heads too, only nothing certain just yet.
