H.O Intake and Throttle body Installed... Pics

I was gonna do it Sunday, but couldnt wait any longer. Took me about an hour to swap everything over. Thought I was gonna have a real hard time re-running all the vacumn lines. I was looking at the pics of melikeystripperchicks H.O swap and his lopo manifold didnt have the two plugs underneath the right hand side, so i didnt think mine would, but I didnt really check. Turns out mine did, and was super easy to plumb up. Anyways, there was a bit of difference down low off idle, but the main improvement was putting it to the floor on the highway. Also seems to run smoother, and the transmission is shifting alot smoother??? Dunno why, anyone got any insight to offer. Its shifting like 10x better than it was with the lopo on. Didnt make any adjustments to the t.v cable either. Anyways heres some pics of how she looks now.

Did you do more than just the HO intake and TB? If it were me, id' either leave it as a LOPO or wait to do the swap until I had the intake, TB, E7's, cam, pistons, and exhaust. But I guess if you're happy with it, that's all that counts.

I adjusted up the t.v cable just as the sticky thread in the tech area said to. The tranny was always kinda clunky goin into overdrive and really clunky downshifting from 2nd to 1st, it wouldnt let go of 2nd gear until like the last possible second, all the electronics and lights would dim, then clunk into first. With the new tb on I was gonna do the whole procedure again, but I took it for a drive with the old setting and it shifts better than it ever has, perfectly smooth upshifts and downshifts. Maybe its just bein nice to me before the tranny decides to fail, dunno. And all i did was the intake and tb. I actually have another car coming next week, a 88, and its gonna be the "hot rod" so to speak, so I have one full time daily driver and one project car that I can take my time on. I just want to get the 91 breathin a bit better.

Glad it helped out. All reports say the HO upper even on a stocker motor helps. Lets give it up for cheap useful upgrades.

Town Cars don't have those plugs, Crown Vickies however do - go figure, both are equipped with non-HO engines, why would Foed have at least three different castings for the upper plenum (instead of only two) is beyond me. Dunno what's the situation with the MGMs, never looked at one for that.

dont want it to shift too smoothly.......it's fine for them to clunk into overdrive.........not enough tv pressure and youll burn it up

still a bit of a clunk into O/D, just not one that makes the whole car shudder like before. I'll add a little pressure back to the cable and see how it shifts.

will do. I filled her up after the install and will post again when its empty. was averaging about 450km to around 60-65 litres of gas. I dont got time right now to do the mpg conversion. As of a couple months ago, i was gettin easy over 500km a tank, but it dived out of nowhere. Pulled a plug and it was white with a brown mark. So ran it on the dyno to see what my numbers were, cause the plugs looked lean, but it failed the hydrocarbons by a tiny bit and the rest was clean. Figured the O2 sensors may have been faulty and were running the engine lean or rich, but i'm tryin to hold off on changin them till i do the exhaust, cause they look like a total bitch to do. Hooked the scanner up to my car to see if they were working properly, but for some reason it wont communicate with my car, so I cant diagnose it for sure. The great gas mileage came for about 3 months after I changed the plugs to NGK G-power platinums and put on the cold air intake. Goin off topic though, will post the mileage average after a couple tanks.

Because it would make too much sense to have two identical engines have the same parts.

Leaving these cars stock make no sense, they perform poor at best stock. You don't need to empty your bank account for a new motor, you can mod the 5.0 lopo easily. For $40 worth of parts and the half hour it took to install them, the HO intake upgrade made a noticeable difference, even over the stock 3.27 gears and the dual exhaust system I had.

The HO intake and TB make a noticeable difference and I've put close to 20,000 miles on my car in a little over a year. Drove it stock for about 13k, then swapped to a 1990 HO upper, 1 inch intake spacer, ported cv egr spacer, and a 1990 HO TB. More low end torque, better throttle response, improved mid range power, and slightly better gas mileage. Takes off nicely from a stop, 1/2 to 3/4 the car moves very well. WOT power there isn't a difference but the stock e6 heads fall on their face at 4000 rpm, you can feel the restriction.

Actually got 28.3mpg verified by the tripminder and the trip odometer driving on RT 222 a week after I installed the intake and my car has a 3.27 open rear. Consistently gets 16mpg in town vs. 12-13 with the stock setup and I drive my car pretty hard. Haven't had a consistent highway run due to some suspension problems but last run to Maryland in August was 24.3mpg at 70mph.
Current rides - 1991 Ford Thunderbird 3.8 v6 (gas saver/DD) - New Heads/Headgaskets with ARP studs, Air Silencer Delete, 70mm MAF, Plasti-dipped Matte Black with a Silver Metalflake Overlay, Muffler Delete, some LED's, 30.233 MPG for high MPG average!
2006 Jeep Wrangler 4WD (fun vehicle/backup DD) - 4.0/6spd - too many mods to list.

Ya, i know exactly what your sayin bout the drop in the powerband. As for gas mileage, I kept track of it on a 3000km round trip from hamilton ontario to Thunder bay Ontario, and it worked out to like 19.23mpg at 60-70mph on the highway for 18 hours. Not that great, but it was bone stock. I'm gonna run through a few tanks and average it out to see how the milage improves over stock. Also ran a simulation E-test on the vic today, and it failed Hydrocarbons by 3ppm. The nox and carbon monoxide were quite low. I have ideas of where to start trying to fix this problem, but anyones suggestions are helpfull. Figure whatevers causing my poor milage is why my gas milage has gone to shit lately.
