    PushRod Question

So, here's what my valvetrain will be when the car is finished:
    -FR E303 Cam(.498" lift, 220* duration)
    -Scorpion 1.72 Roller Rocker arms
with this combonation, my total valve lift will be around .533".
the KB pistons will assure no piston/valve clearance issues.
my only concern is that the pushrods may be rubbing against the E7 heads as they move up/down.
    will this be an issue?
will I need longer pushrods or anything?
    help me out here guys...
    thanks

You will need to measure the length to find if it's correct. You might also need to shim the rockers to get the proper preload and tip location on the valve.

pedestal or stud mount rockers? Stud mount rockers require guide plates and hardened pushrods, and you dont have to shim, you adjust them with the lock nuts.

Your rubbing concerns are unwarranted. You will however have to check/set lifter preload.

pardon my ignorance, but what's the lifter preload and how do I set/check it?
              BTW, the heads are ported

As you tighten down the rocker, you observe how many rotations it takes to get the bolt/nut tight once the vertical lash is taken out of the pushrod. The pushrod will just be touching the lifter plunger but not collapsing it yet. 1 to 1 1/2 turns is a general guideline.

You tighten the rocker down just to the point you can not rotate the push rod with your fingers. Between that point and final seating of the rocker is your preload.

I have seen where you could still rotate the pushrod after starting to compress the plunger. You should always feel the drag once it touches though.

ok, just to confirm, the stock pushrods are all good right?
