    Timing Cover Question

Hey guys long time no post.
Going to be tackling the water pump on my 89 TC come spring along with the timing chain and was wondering if its worth replacing the timing cover or just cleaning the stock one up?
Bought a new balancer for her too.

    Thanks!

Its not really a wear item, but if the gasket surface is badly eroded you're pretty much going to be forced into replacing it. Perhaps not the worst idea to have one available just in case if it turns out you get into it and find the cover is not happy. Or if possibly having it apart for a few days isn't a big deal just order one if you have to.

Best of luck! Hopefully none of those stubborn studs snap off on you.

if you can put together a set of water pump bolts, that would be a good idea. No idea if they sell a set or if its a piece together from a couple of other things deal. Been a long time since I did a water pump, and the original bolts from my 1988 engine have been recycled at least 6 times that I know if. Not gonna lie, last time I had eyes on them they did not look so awesome.

Yea, I thought about that but haven't looked into it yet.
Would the fox body's be the same water pump bolts?

The Mustang sets don’t have all the bolts you need. I purchased two and was still short a size or two I needed. I believe one size was not used between the two engines and I had to junkyard source one from a box panther.

Some where in my build thread I have an awesome photo of the bolts used pushed into cardboard with some scribble notes next to the hardware. I believe a couple other member have also done the same.

I was still happy going through with picking up the new bolts but found it really expensive and a hassle to get everything.

I've got the photos saved, no need to dig around.
