I’ve had a coolant leak on my 90 mgm for some time but could never locate it. Nothing seems wet and it’s not burning it but it’s constantly draining the radiator to about half full. The other night I put in a new battery and filled it all the way to the top but this time I could hear a trickle. It’s hard to see the top but coolant was leaking, pretty decent leak too, from somewhere just above the harmonic balancer. I can see it going around the balancer and dripping onto the floor. Any common spots for it to leak around there? I’m guessing it’s coming from the bottom of the water pump but it seems so sudden.

Yeah this type of thing can come out of the blue but it certainly does happen. Just verify it is the water pump (most probably) before doing all that work. You can pressure test the cooling system to make the leak more visible.Originally posted by 87GrandMarq View PostI’ve had a coolant leak on my 90 mgm for some time but could never locate it. About the only thing above the balancer is the water pump and above that the thermostat housing. If there is coolant sitting behind the water pump, its the thermostat. If its dry up top and wet underneath, its the pump. Usually they leak out of the weep hole on the bottom of the pump. A mirror may answer your question, its a bit hard to see that weep hole from up top.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).
