I think the coil on my Turd is going out, and I was looking at autozone online for parts. I was wondering, since they have just an ignition coil and a TFI/blaster coil listed, do I need both? I don't know much about ignition systems, and I thought the TFI was the coil

So the Duralast coil I just bought isn't plug and play?

TFI is the ignition module, like a duraspark box or HEI module in the dist. Coils are all pretty much interchangeable, except for the harness specific connectors. They all have the plug terminal as well as positive and netative sides to fire the coil

MSD Blaster coil is basically just red with a sticker. Its somewhat higher voltage, but its not really going to do much for you in the way of performance on a stock motor. I have a generic Summit high output coil on my car, basically the same as the MSD but lacking the sticker. It cost about the same as a stock coil, and my stock one was failing. No really special reason to upgrade the thing otherwise.
On a turd, the tfi module may be remote mounted. It does depend on the year and engine though. Some were on the side of the distributor.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

Allright thanks alot guys. I bought a Duralast replacement coil, and so far no good. I also broke the damn connector with the red and green wires on it which costs $17.00 at autozone.Oh well, I guess the next step is a TFI, if this connector doesnt fix it.
