Im almost done getting it back together, another day or so and it will be done.

And to answer your question, my teacher said that it can happen just from age and it wearing out.

Yeah, that's quite normal for the plastic teeth on those things to wear down to nothing. I did a timing chain in my Lincoln, and it was pretty bad by the time I got it apart. Just cheap crap from the factory. :p

Funny. I guess I just randomly assumed my 130k-mile motor was pretty much typical since I'd been pretty hard on it for the past 50k miles, even though it had no scoring or sludge buildup or anything.

Wouldn't yours have had the metal gear originally? I almost want to say 302s after '85 got metal gears from the factory...either that or my memory is being creative again lol

Hehe...I've still got mine at home, too. Kept it for a keepsake. :p

with the 89 crown vic...it's an EFI....the fuel relay switch went out one day and I had the same problem...it would turn over and over and over ...yet nothing...I found out about the switch and I now carry an extra one in the glove box....I don't know about the older models but perhaps they too have something like that?

                  It is done.

I got it all done today and it fired right up. Im extremely happy:rock:

I think its low on power steering fluid because it stalled twice when I was driving it: both times I was doing a low speed tight turn.

Other than that its all good

Good deal. Might need to bump the idle up just a little bit if you're having stalling problems. CFI seems to do that randomly.

Any abnormal noises coming from the pump. Usually it would be louder if it was low.
