a .040 or .060 over block? good lord. .040 is about the max limit of safety with a modern roller block. .060 is pretty scary territory. I guess its an OK price for a longblock but its really nothing special. For that kind of price I'd want better than stock heads. You might price around for an Explorer engine, thats a much better motor to start with if you don't plan on building it yourself.

I suggest an explorer or other stock motor assembly from Ford Racing Performance Parts.

I saw that in the mail order catalog from them and was shocked to see a .040"-.060" overbore. I'd suggest that you do not use that long block. You can save more and have better if you get a used engine and rebuild it yourself and have the machining done to it. Only bore it over the amount required, no more.

My jeeps 401 has a.30 overbore....and I'm pretty happy with it......BUT for a 5.0 I would NEVER go more than .40......I would say .30 is better cuz once you cut into the walls that much your asking for problems.....Its fine on a race engine thats not expecting to see a long life ....I would have to say get a good used engine with light miles on it and build her up......get a stroker 310 or 331 .....I've heard that the stroker 347's have oiling problems ....So I would say stay clear of that one ....(intill I hear otherwise..lol)

The Bullet is a high-performance, low-cost alternative to a stock rebuild or a factory crate motor. We recommend this engine for daily driven, low maintenance and moderate horsepower street/strip applications. Designed for a naturally aspirated vehicle, Bullet short blocks include lightweight Pro Series forged pistons to free up horsepower and allow you to use bigger valves and/or a high-lift cam.
