    Advancing timing

Hi, i wanted to do a basic tune up on my 89 lx vic and im wondering if i need a dist cap and rotor? i have never worked on any of the fuel injected cars ive had.

also i wanted to advance my timing to like 14, its at 12 from the factory right? so i dont know how to do that on the EFI either, or is the same as a carb? any help is appreciated, thanks.

Yes, a new cap and rotor is part of the standard tuneup on these cars.

The car is timed at 10 degrees BTDC from the factory. Bumping it up to 13 or 14 and increasing the spark plug gap to .50-.55 has shown to squeeze a little extra power out of the car. I've never timed my Townie before, but I've done my truck, which is carbed, and as far as I know, timing is more or less the same between most vehicles.
