I know it has a new accelerator pump in it, that was in the rebuild kit.
One of the worst things is stop and go driving. Traffic lights stop signs.

Aah, mkay then, tis just I've heard so many folks suggest wiring choke open till winter and then deal with it. I think in his case tis just misadjusted fast-idle cam, or as someone suggested a massive vacuum leak.

Trust me, I know how cold Michigan can get. Most of my family lives in the Marquette/Negaunee area, and I spent a few years there growing up climbing the 10 ft snow drifts in my front yard to get to the bus stop
Haha, yep, sounds like fun, I've had to use my bumper as a snowplow on several occasions

Ah, you mean it ain't no vacuum leak if it idles like it should when warm? Excellent point, completely slipped off my mind. Then I blame it all on the fast-idle screw - Colin, go and back that bitch out one turn and let us know if it works.

Just to state the bleeding obvious, is the throttle returning all the way? If you pull back on the throttle plate, does the idle come down? If so, you might simply need more return spring, or an adjustment on the throttle cable. Sometimes with those Lokar cables, you need to fiddle a bit to get them so they don't hold any tension at idle.

Also, are you sure its the high idle screw and not the low idle screw thats the problem? If the hockey puck is all the way lean, basically the choke should be open, and the high idle should not be a factor. Verify this by looking at the throttle stop screw. If the one on the driver's side of the car is touching the metal stop, then thats the one you need to adjust. If not, and the throttle isn't sticking open, the high idle screw is your friend.

Thain, if it was the low-idle screw his engine speed would be going up as the engine warms up, not to mention the stumbling and chugging he'd be getting when he fires it up first thing in the morning. And yes he does have an issue with the return springs being too weak, he mentioned it in the other thread.

what I meant was after a while, its not on high idle any more. Its possible that the high idle is kicking out, but the low idle is set way too high, so it never actually idles down. The throttle not closing all the way should be addressed first tho, since its impossible to set the idle if the screw isn't whats holding the plates open.
