    Yup, another engine question :P

Howdey. hehe. My curiosity has been striking me as of late. And you guys have been fulfilling my wants, on know how about engines and carbs.

    But i have another question

On our 302's is there anything that "blows" goes out on them normally. I take it our cars have shity heads so, i know of that. But i also that goes back to performance. does it affect anything else?

And what else normally goes out in them when they blow?

Just trying to be prepared. call me Mr. Boyscout

Hmmm... not sure what you are asking. No, no parts normally blow out of the engine unless you or your machine shop did something wrong .

The heads really don't have many problems, other than they aren't much on performance as you've said.

I've witnessed one Ford small block "blow" and that was due to poor assembly choices, rather than a piston chunking or a rod making an exit out of the block. We suspect it happened with valve float and too close piston-to-valve clearances combined. It it really wasn't a blow, more like some serious knocking and missing after a valve and piston got intimate. It might have been a blow without forged pistons.
I remember Hot Rod had a 302 violently rip on the dyno because of a valve breaking off, but they had hyper pistions I think and they shattered. I think they said their valve guides were the problem, allowing the valve to seat at odd angles eventually breaking it off.

No, nothing that normally fails in any spectacular manner. The heads don't breathe well, but they don't exactly break either. Its possible to make one blow if you beat the thing to death or run it out of oil or spin it way beyond where it was designed to work but thats not exactly normal operating conditions.
