    A/c query

    Dear Panthers,
Yesterday my a/c stopped blowing cold air. New freon, belt okay, everything turning quietly, defrost works fine, no cold air. Ideas?

Does the compressor run and do the lines get cold? If its making the lines cold, I'd guess something wonky with the climate controls inside. If the compressor isn't running at all, and the refrigerant is charged, maybe the low pressure switch on the side of the accumulator (can on the right side, plumbed in to the AC lines) is bad, or the WOT cutout relay. The plugs on the side of the compressor have also been known to fall out. The little lock tab thing breaks and the plug will come out of the connector.

I am thinking of the pressure cycling switch on the drier tank, I replace at least 10-15 a year on customer vehicles. Quick test? Unplug it, and stick a paper clip in the plug end, and start the car with the A/C on max. If it now works, the switch is bad.

That was the first think that came to mind here too, I remember hearing/reading something about those being a relatively common failure item with age.

Paperclips worked. What part should I buy?

Yup. Will "the low pressure cutoff ac switch"
be info enough at dealer parts or will the counterman say "huunnnh?"

Sorry to be a pain in the ass but I'm 90 minutes from dealer parts.

you can get that ac low pressure cutoff switch at any parts store......now when the compressor came on, was it cold? cause if the refrigerant leaked out the switch would be off all the time.
