MAC headers can be a pain but F bombs are bad

If the holes in the headers aren't lining up with the holes on the heads, perhaps you could drill out the holes in the headers a bit to make 'em line up? Kinda hard to say without being able to see what's going on...any chance you could post a pic or two for us?

I could I mean it doesnt look too far off but it is enough where the bolts dont fit though. They are used so someone had to have been able to put them on without screwing with them.

I suppose your other option would be to heat 'em up so you could bend the tubes just ever so slightly, but that might be kind of hit-or-miss on getting it right.

I have the right side on, took awhile but I finally got it on. Now the left side is a totally different story, 2 primaries I have on, one I have 1 bolt in and the other doesnt want to thread in and when it does start to it pops out after a couple of turns. Then the last primary is messed up, I can thread any of the bolts in, I stuck a screwdriver in there to see if they are lined up and it seems they are halfway. So that is where I am stuck at. I have pretty much lost my patence with these. I have been pretty calm through the whole thing and I am starting to lose it so I need some help.

Suggestions, tips or throw these out and man up and buy some decent headers.

Im going to work on my Jeep....
Do the end two first. that way, they should be lined up. If they still aren't lined up, then I don't know what to tell you. Are they hitting anything?

No whiney threads in the Tech section with more cursing than actual tech...

              That being said.......
Once you use MAC headers and take them off, you are almost guaranteed to have trouble putting them back on. One trick is to heat them up with a torch as you put the toublesome tubes on. Bolting one tube on and then moving the rest can make life easier.

What he said, those individual flanges are a PITA. +1 on the heat trick, it might be your only hope.

I used large pry bars. gotta get as many bolts in as possible- LOOSLY then pry the offending tube(s) into place.

exhaust studs make it marginally easier, but they still have to be beaten down on the threads to seal

                              MAC < crap.

Nothing new, this is the story of MAC's life. I have had trouble with every piece of MAC garbage that has rolled into my shop here. Sell them, and buy a used set of Ford Motorsport stainless headers off of Ebay, the last set I bought was $75.
