The P heads flow better. They do need a specific header though, and possible pushrod issues, depending. I have put a set of P heads on an Explorer block with 1.7 rockers, an HO cam, and stock pushrods and the preload was OK. Its possible that other setups will be different.

The P heads don't. The standard GT40's might.

if you use gt-40's you will need reducer bushings as the 302 has smaller head bolts than 351's. I have a set of those bushings from crane if anyone is interested.

Interesting trivia.... Ford didn't use reducer bushings when they bolted the 1/2" hole GT40s onto the 302 Explorer blocks........
Different pushrods are needed if you use the "Cobra" 1.7 rockers.

yup, the locator bushings in the block will hold the head in place. the 351 heads on my motor were previously on my brothers 302 with out reducer bushings for a while.
