I must have had the uber-junkyard guy. He yanked a low-mile escort trans for me for $70 and delivered to my work for me. Nice guy. When we wanted the head/turbo out of a Merkur he pulled it out to us and left it up on a lift so we could get under it.

Holy crap, you didn't have any uber-junkyard guy... you had a scrapyard angel sent from God.

The last guy I dealt with, who was by all means a polite guy although busy and distracted, charged me a hundred bucks for a door off of an '84 F-150 that was rusty with LARGE spots of paint missing completely, had a horrible window regulator, and had no mirror. I also had to remove it and put it in the back of my truck alone.

Before that I dealt with a couple real know-it-all pricks who apparently didn't want my money because they felt the need to argue with me about whether or not limited slip was ever available in a Panther. They insisted it wasn't and if it was I'd never find one, and refused to let me examine any of the EIGHT rear ends they had out of 91-97 Panthers. I politely thanked them for their time and left without purchasing anything. Never went back there. I'm still angry about the bullshit I took from them in order to remain polite.

I've dealt with very nice Junkyard guys. Sometimes, they wouldn't charge for things. Trim pieces, harnesses, switches (small switches). And when we had to pay for stuff, they were decent prices. 10 bucks for a headlight switch, 15 for a wiper motor, 35 for a radiator.

yea you are. the only time ive been hit for prices is when i want osmething off a set. like the heads and manifold off a good motor cuase then i hurt him if he tries to sell it. other then that ive done rather well. i think iv most guys think youre a punk and goona rip them off or theyve been ripped of fin the past they get gay over prices.
