Would a posi unit out of a 2002 Mercury Maruader work in a 1985 mgm with an 8.8. From what I heard Marauders have 8.8's too. Just wondering if there are any differences from a 2002 to an 85. Also what would I need to go from an open setup to a posi unit assembly. Cause I'll be getting just the unit with clutches s spring ect...

there are 28 spline trac locks for the 8.8 and 31 spline trac locks. they are all the same otherwise and will fit all 8.8 axles.
the 28 spline are used in cars, and the 31 spline were used in trucks and limo prep cars. i am not sure if they used 28 or 31 spline axles in the marauder, better find out how many splines if you found a used marauder trac lock for sale

Yeah the guy said it accepts 28 spline axels so the swap should be pretty straight forward i'm hoping. I just want to know what is involved before I buy it.

What guy? Because I was under the impression that the MM uses a 31 spline axle. But It could be otherwise. Double check this before you buy it, don't just take anyones word for it. I wonder because the same HP is in the new Mustang GT, and it uses the 31 spline 8.8 axle.

Yeah I know there was no 02, figuered that out a few minutes after I posted and thought about it, but this dude on ebay thinks there is. Which makes me wonder if it does have 31 spline axels instead of the 28 as mentioned I'll double check it.
