I Lie and I Can't Be Trusted...... 5.8 Truck Lowers

I physically checked it out and the 5.8 Truck lower intake has oval ports spaced similar to an HO intake, but the bolt pattern matches the 302 Truck intake. You could port match to an aftermarket upper which shares the 302 Truck intake bolt pattern, especially if you use a portable spacer for the transition.....

Isn't the truck intake bolt pattern the same as the Edelbrock upper/lower? I seem to recall seeing a site where a guy actually did hog out the truck lower to mate to an Eddy upper, but it looked like a lot of work.

The Edelbrock pattern does not even look close....

Must be the Holley I was thinking of then. I know I saw somewhere that the truck lower had the same bolt pattern as one of the aftermarket uppers.

          aha, here it is

I always knew you were a liar... I'm glad you could admit it.

I wish I knew more about how port shape enhances flow; I say this because the shape of those runners (on the Holley upper/ Ford lower) is very unique.

Well, I'm not here to trash the thread, as I think it is of interest.

Also, please refrain from personal attacks outside of the BF.

I didn't check the links, but both the Holley systemax 2 and Saleen intakes use a copy of the Ford 302 truck lower intake, although the ports are a little better constructed.

The 351W truck intake? Yep, it's a turd, both the lower AND upper. I have swapped one (using the Price Motorsports adapter and distributor extension) in place of a 5.8 truck intake, after I got done hogging out the ports of the 302 truck lower, there was a definite noticeable increase in power, especially up top, after installation. I recommend anyone owning a 5.8 EFI truck to do the same, as the intake and adapter are half of the price of the Edelbrock 5.8 truck intake.
