    Running Rough & Black Smoke.

I am pretty sure I have seen threads like this B4, however I think my situation is a little bit different. My mom said the car started stumbling and running rough with black smoke earlier this evening. This is after it had been running good all day. B4 I go out to scan and run the car tomorrow morning I'd figure that I'd get some opinions from people that have gone through this B4. I replaced the 02 sensors last year when I did the dual exhaust. Is it possible for new sensors to die that fast with a performance exhaust? The symptoms sound like bad sensors, but I could be way off. Thanks in advance for any help on this one.

Vacuum line to MAP sensor or MAP sensor is a good thing to check

I think I saw the MAP sensor while taking the upper end apart. I will look into that, or at least expect to see a code or something.

I just redid my original MAP line, the upper part at least and the original was really bad. A good place to start and it probably needs changing anyhow.

+1, vacuum line to the MAP, or the MAP itself took a crap. Thats about the only thing that would make it chug and smoke like that. The sensors are pretty reliable, so change the hose first.

Is the MAP sensor that black box (that hangs off of the cowl) with the rubber hoses attached to it? If not, where would I find it? My books don't have anything on the MAP sensors.

yeah that's it. It's in the 2end pic middle left I would change that vacuum hose. Theres a good chance it broke when you took the upper off. original vacuum hoses do not like to be messed with.

I changed one of the hoses (the one that went under the upper intake plenum); perhaps the other hose needed to be changed as well. I am going to take a look.

Yep that was exactly the problem. You guys/gals hit the nail straight on the head. The adapter fitting came off and the hose was dangling. I had to use some electrical tape to close the id of the 5/16 end of the fitting to fit inside the 3/8 hose that goes to the upper intake when I did the valve covers a month ago. The tape came loose and the adapter came off. My father is going to make an adapter out of aluminum tubing so that I don't have to rely on tape. :worship:Thanks guys, you friggin rock!!!!!!!! :worship:
