    PCV Screen Part Number?

Is this a dealer only part? None of the local parts stores have it listed in their system according to the counter guys (and girls). Can anyone find a part number for me? Need to know because I actually forgot to replace it while I was doing the work on the Town Car and would rather replace it so it's not shooting oil into my throttle body any more.

    Thanks guys!

Okay- I did some digging on my own... here's what I've found:

Advance Auto carries the screen. They call it a crankcase filter.

Advance Auto screen part number: B15231
PCV Valve Grommet part number: 42327 (universal for all three stores, but none carry it)
Advance Auto PCV Valve part number: PCV203 (this has a black plastic piece on it that will pop right off)

Okay- they had the grommet in the HELP! section of the store. It's HELP! number 42327.

I hope this helps someone in the future...

Yeah, I found the grommet in the HELP section too....they were all out of the screen....everyone except the dealer, and they only had one dust covered box left...it was eight bucks.....ya gotta do what ya gotta do, mine looked like it had never been changed.

Mine all had Ford stamps and I couldn't even blow through the screen (not that I tried... *cough* )

It's an easy swap when you know what you're feeling for, but someone who hasn't done/seen these things before could have quite a "fun" time getting it done.

I've gotten the screens at napa before. Its usually harder to explain what you're after than actually getting the part. Every computer calls it something different, not all of them very obvious. I think "pcv filter" or something is what advance calls it. The person at Napa looked at me like I had a third eye but another person behind the counter was like "you mean that piece of shit screen thing that i've had on the shelf for 10 years?" Perhaps thats the official nomenclature at some stores.

i had to special order mine from checker but i forgot the part number. it was less than $10 and took a couple days to get there. when i ordered it they gave me a "WTF are you talking about" look before they found it. the grommet i've found everywhere but it never fits right, havent tried a motorcraft one though. the PCV valves i found all have a 90 degree fitting on them as opposed to the straight fitting on the OE part so if you have an original molded hose the aftermarket valve wont work.

The aftermarket PCV valve I found had that plastic 90 degree fitting on it too, but it just pulls right off, leaving you with the right fitting.

                  filter

I just told the guy I needed a breather filter. I bought it like a month ago, but haven't got around to putting it in, what with taking the vinyl off. I just bought the metal mesh screen thing though, should I have bought a new vavle altogether? Btw if anyone has pictures from when they did it, that would be great, because I'm not even sure how to take off the upper intake or if I should.

If you're good (or a contortionist) you can get it out without removing the upper intake, but it's a hell of a lot easier if you remove it or at least shift it to the side somewhat. There are four bolts at the corners of the mating area where it hits the lower intake, and two underneath the 5.0 nameplate that you remove with torx screws.

Mines really easy to take out. Scott put a new vacuum line on my ho upper last year so taking out the pcv valve is a snap

If you stand on the driver side of the car and reach, you can feel the hose going down into the lower intake. It'd be located between the two bolts at the bottom of the upper intake, maybe an inch and a half down and back. That's the PCV hose. It's attached to the PCV valve, which will probably come out with the hose. Then will be the grommet, which should come out if you grab the edges and slowly wiggle it out. Below the grommet is the filter/breather/screen... what I used is a hook from a hook/pick set at the parts store and with a quick twist it came right out. If I had the pictures I'd post them. If you're wanting to wait a bit I can take pictures and post them up for you. It's SUPER easy if you familiarize yourself with what's back there before you do it.

Damn!!!! I wish I had been on here a couple of days ago. I could have gotten you the NAPA part #. I still have the new screen sitting here because the old screen is jammed into the lower intake.

Use a 3-4 inch lag screw or any other long screw. Pull out the PVC and the grommet as told above. Take the screw and screw it into the screen and pull it out. Drop the new one in and replace the old grommet and PVC with new and you are done. I don't see and reason to remove the intake just to replace the PVC stuff.
