    Long tubes for a '91 351W p72?

anyone ever put longtubes on a 351 vic?if so what kind and was there any modifications needed to fit em in? the evaporator box seems pretty close to theright side stock manifold which worries me. and is there any advantage to longtubes over shorties?

DuceAnAHalf has midlength headers on this 351.

They required some mods, as well.

mine are basically long tubes, just missing the last turn. the passenger side fit with no mods, but i dont have a AC box. the drivers side had to be brought in towards the head about an inch and the #8 had to be brought in even more and had to be dut and welded to line back up with the flange

These were originally fox body mustang headers, and the #8 tube originally went around the steering shaft, you can see how much had to be removed so that it would clear the shaft.

passenger side, the tubes come close to the a-arm, it will actually hit if the arm is all the way in.

and no one else has ever produced evidence of another set of mid-legnth or long tube headers that fit a panther that i know of

There are some flow improvements with long tubes, but unless you're running a non-stock engine, I honestly doubt it would be enough to matter. The stock motor makes all of 180 hp, so adding a long tube header won't do much for you. In all honesty it would probably cost you some power since the primary tubes tend to be large on long tube headers, and you'd get a loss of exhaust velocity going from the small port on the head to a large primary tube.
