    Starting Problem

Hey guys my box has been having a hard time starting this past year. When I get in my car in the morning it has no problem starting but after an hour or so and I get back into drive it, it wont start with having to push on the gas and keep pressing for a few seconds and sometimes it struggels to stay started. Also I can sometimes be at a red light and it the engine will shake a bit then die. Any Hopes can anything help?

As lincolnmania suggested, it could very well be the TFI.

It could also be the fuel pump, or a plugged filter.

When is the last time the filter was changed?

The fuel filter is extremely easy to do; you can do it yourself. Worth changing it if you don't know when it was changed last.

Hey thanks for the tip. Where would I find the fuel pump and how much should one of them cost at autozone or something?

The pump is IN the tank. This is why I suggested the filter first. It's on the passenger-side, just on the inboard side of the frame rail. You can't miss it.

What would i have to do in order to fix it just unplug and replace or is there any pressure that I would have to pump so no gas leaks???

if you change the filter in the morning before starting the car, no pressure. If you have to run the car, the easist way to de-pressurize the system is to whack the intertia switch in the trunk while the motor is running. The switch is attached to the driver's side trunk hinge. After the car stalls, shut the key off and change the pump. To make the car run again, press the white button on top of the switch down so it clicks.

If you do it in the morning, you don't need to touch the white switch.

And yep, disconnect, replace, reconnect. And see if it makes a difference.

Mine cranks a bit more if I restart after I've been using it. In the morning when it's cold it cranks for barely a second. I think it's somewhat common. Your fuel pump should be alright though I don't know the age or mileage, but you did say box so I'm gonna guess a bit there. The stock fuel pump is a nice Bosch unit and they last a pretty long time unless you run it dry all the time. However, there are simple ways to test you fuel pressure to determine whether the pump is the issue.
