Alternator from a mustang to my car??

Hello. As most of you know that I am putting a sound system into my car. I found this alternator that had came off of a 87 Mustang. It is suppose to put out more amps, It say Durlast on it, but i'll have it checked by Advance. Does anyone know if this alternator will work on my car?

save money buying getting a 3g swap the first time. and for the love of god, do NOT use duralast parts. cheap autozone chinese shit.

we have on here a guide on doing the 3ag swap. I haven't done it myself personally, but its an easy read. also get a "new" alternator at napa.

Any 2g alt isn't gonna be able to power much. The duralst stuff doesn't put out any more amperage. It's a pathetic 65A.

Go 3g and be done with it. Unless you aren't building much of a system...

Hell, I would just stack two 3G alternators on top of each other, and run a jackshaft belt drive to power the second one.....just in case.

The 3G swap is one of the best electrical upgrades for this car. Duralast... ehhh, to be very honest you could probably hit the junk yards, get the 3g you need, have it tested for free IIRC at Autozone and save yourself hassle down the road. The alt you need is available on quite a few different applications so it won't be hard to find either. Scott wrote up a nice list of different models in one of the threads. I used a 95 Mustang 3g (130 amps/ 14.7-14.8 volts at idle).

I never thought a 3G alternator was a nessesary upgrade for the typical owner until one caught fire on me out of no where. If you have a stereo in mind, 3G ASAP my friend.
