    No start

Ok here the deal, for the past few days my vic has not wanted to start right up like it starving for gas. I did the cardinal sin & pumped the gas pedal a few times & boom it starts. Runs all day while @ work for lunch break & to home. If it sits 4 more than 8 hrs. it dos'nt like to start. This morning getting ready 2 goto work nothing. Do you guy's think it is the feul pump? Feul filter is new I could"nt hear the pump through the gas fill...WTF???

fuel and spark. if its got both, check for codes. If nothing, check the ect and the act to see if the values are in spec. charts at fordfuelinjection.com for the sensors.

Is the vehicle injected? If so, I'm curious to know what pumping the gas pedal might have accomplished ....

Pumping it, not sure. Holding the pedal down cuts injector pulse because the ECM assumes you have a flooded engine condition. Course, this might actually be the problem. If an injector is leaking down, it might flood a cylinder out, making for a hard start. A cloud of black/grey smoke on initial startup would go along with that. I don't know what exactly it would do if it saw the throttle going from open to closed while cranking, maybe intermittantly pulse the injectors depending on throttle position?

If the throttle body is getting clogged with oil from the crankcase vent tube, you may want to check your PCV system to be sure its working. The grommets get hard, and the screen clogs, making the whole thing not function and forcing all the combustion blowby through that tube.

If the pcv works, then your motor is tired and not much to be done for it. Since its not a closed system, you can just go with a crankcase breather or an oil catch can like the Mustang folks do.

              yup

It's best to hold it all the way to the floor before cranking.. when the pedal is held down it tells the eec it's flooded and cuts the injectors. I'm thinking it most likely started because of opening the butterfly on the throttle body (faulty/dirty IAC) though i guess its possible for it to be flooded. fuel pressure regulator?? injector leaking?

Give a man a fish and he will be fed for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will promptly forget that he once did not know, and proceed to call anyone who asks, a n00b and flame them on the boards for being stupid.
