    What Fuel Line Type................

............should I use for an EFI DD street car? If one were to replace the fuel system, should he/she go with hard lines or braided steel with the AN fittings and such? Or a combo of both?

I converted from carb'd to EFI on my 85. I just spliced into my hard lines and ran -8 feed through a Walbro 255, with a -6 return. I used Russel spring-lock to AN adaptors at the rails [I am using 351 truck rails]. the only thing with an external pump was the mounting is tricky because I did not want to drill any holes.

im using braided line from the tank to the filter, to the pump and about a foot out of the pump. it meets up with aluminum hard line and that runs to the regulator on the firewall, after that its all braided again. doing your long run in hard line keeps the price down and saves some weight since the braided is heavier per foot that hard line

I might use a combo of the two like Duece said. I don't believe that I have ever used braided steel on anything DD, so I was concerned about durability. When the time comes, I'm going to modify a Mustang fuel pump, run AN braided steel to the filter, hard aluminum along the frame to the engine compartment, then AN braided steel to the rails. I measured a -6 AN carb line thatI have for the 390FE and it's like 3/8" standard; I think that may be a little large for a mild 351W.

Heretic: Long time no hear. How's the Lightning Bolt going?

Going great so far, i took some time off, mainly to fix shit around my house, but now I'm back on it. The above is my fuel system I did last month... Got the wiring all sorted and ready to go now. All I need is the exhaust and to modify my damn 65mm throttle body. I hope this sees the road in the next few weeks. Videos and pics will be posted!

You really need a fair amount of motor to exceed what the stock fuel lines can provide. What exactly are you planning to build here?

A mild EFI hydr. roller 351W for the CV. I'm slowly saving up for the build. Right now I'm trying to get the supporting mods done or planned out before I tackle the engine.
