This might be a little late to mention this, but has it ever been conclusively proven that GT40 heads with their larger valves will work properly with the stock lopo pistons? I could swear someone did it, but right now I'm not totally sure who or if my memory is correct.

for a cam i would suggest what mrltd suggested to me a comp cams XE258 cam,if you can get the gt40 motor whole just do a swap youll have a wole new rolling assembly pretty much lol. oh one other thing it would be advisable to change the stock springs to better ones the gt40 springs arnt all that great89 townie, mild exhuast up grades, soon to have loud ass stereo....
