    1 second engine light

The beautiful yellow 'Check Engine' has graced my dashboard a few times in the past few days. It doesn't happen when I do anything specific and the car isn't behaving strangely.. has happened in all gears and just comes on for literally a second and then goes out again. Will happen under acceleration or just cruising

It happened once before I did the 3G swap but maybe 4 times tonight so I don't know if it could be that I did a poor job or what..given my inexperience that's not out of the question. Isn't the green wire running to one of the warning lights? I thought I made a solid crimp/connection but like I said..am inexperienced.

I don't work until tomorrow night so I'm gonna get up early and go to the garage to get them to check it out on the scanner/computer/whateverthefuckitistheyuse and hopefully get things sorted out.

In the meantime, Any idea? Has anyone had this happen?

Pull the codes, it should answer your question. I did randomly fix this sort of problem on my Mark VII. It happened to be a leaking EGR diaphram, and I found it totally by accident while checking other things. I wouldn't advise changing parts without knowing what you're looking for first though. You may get lucky, but more than likely you'll just spend a lot of money and not fix it.

stopped by the garage in town today and the guy said he'd be happy to scan it for free but he was the only one there at the time (two other guys on lunch) and was elbow deep in an engine bay. he told me to drop by tomorrow. engine light didn't come on at all today.

Mine was doing that for about a month last winter, I never got much of anything for codes and it went away on its own. I think it was an EGR code.

Mine was doing the same last year. it was the EGR code. The check engine light would go on when the motor got hot or when i floored it alot or got on it.
