    What TPS on explorer motor?

I'm using the throttle body from the explorer motor, but the panther TPS never quite worked perfectly on it. I had to drill out the holes larger to get it to fit and read ~1volt. But i've noticed that the blade that turns the TPS isnt as wide as it needs to be and has somewhat worn down the tabs inside the tps and never reads right. So i'm wondering what TPS everyone running the explorer setup uses? The explorer TPS fits well, but has a different plug. Same color wires though so i'm assuming if it were cut of and replaced it would work correctly. Anyone done this yet? The wires on my explorer tps were cut to short to be used, so i'd like to get a little more info before i pick up a new one...

stock on mine. I did have a replacement snap a blade. I thought it was just an odd coincidence and never looked into it further. Whats on there for the last 2 years is an 11 pm "oh shit" part from the box of used spare parts. I think I did check the resistance on an Explorer TPS and found it to be the same as the Panther one. If you can get your hands on the Explorer TPS plug and splice it to a box plug as an adapter harness I have no doubt it would work just fine.

I'll head to the junkyard tomorrow and get another explorer one and splice that in. Based on the part number that one is in a ton of different cars. I'll pick up a spare panther one in case that doesn't work. I think this had been causing a lot of little running issues lately, so hopefully thats all fixed. thanks for the input

Ok I got this whole mess sorted out. The explorer TPS WILL work. It has the same range as the panther TPS despite what I have read on a ton of mustang forums. .55v-4.75v uninstalled. I had to drill out the wholes a tiny bit, but since the tabs inside the explorer TPS are longer, there was no issue with the blade spinning freely inside it. I found a lot of bad info on interchanges for this part. The correct explorer one is F4SZ-9B989-AA, there are a bunch that look the same that spin the opposite way.

When splicing the wires, here is the explorer and panther setups:

              Explorer:
              BRN/WHT VOLT REF
              GRY/WHT TPS INPUT
              GRY/RED SIG RETURN

              Panther:
              ORG/WHT VOLT REF
              DRK GRN/LT GRN TPS INPUT
              BLK/WHT SIG RETURN

Its all installed, and now i have 1v closed throttle, and it smoothly goes up to 4.75v. I could tell it was running better, and responded better at WOT.

Second pic is the explorer TPS, 3rd pic is the one you DONT want, you can see the tabs are in a different position.
