    faltering

I'm puzzled where to look and will be detailed.

The mountain goes up and down from 1800 feet to 3000 in two miles. 32 turns, some horseshoe 30 mph is reckless. Warm day: 70's. 89cp running smooth, warmed up, low A/C. Maybe 3 gallons in the tank low gas light glowing.

It faltered on a turn just cut out, so briefly I wasn't sure I hadn't imagined it. No sputter, no lurch just off like I'd turned the ignition off and on - only no lurch as it restarted. A minute later another cut out - slightly longer, again on a turn. AC off. Near the top it cutout a third time long enough so I wondered if I was going to make it. Okay going down, until the turn at the bottom. faltered again. Then to town, flatland stop and go, filled up, groceries, parts etc and 90 minutes on the interstate with A/C w/o a falter. Back over the mountain, no falter.

Only unusual thing was everytime I parked for shopping when I got back in first time I fired it up - no foot on gas - it died. Second time worked fine.

I suspect ignition, maybe distributor. Your thoughts?

Sounds like you had too little gas for hilly terrain, if this is as curvy a road as you're describing. Especially when going uphill, the fuel will slosh away from the pickup and you'll get fuel starvation. Going uphill in a turn, that means you've got all your fuel sloshing over to a rear corner away from the pump.

I'd guess fuel slosh too. It only does this with low fuel level and going around a turn? If thats the case, the gas is probably just sloshing away from the fuel pump pickup and the motor loses gas supply for a moment.
