ok I replaced ignition switch, no success. The dude offered me a electrical connector for the ignition, should I go for that next? I discovered the continuous crank stops if I remove the little red wire on the solenoid relay

if the plug on the ignition switch is melted, then a new connector is probably not a bad idea. Does the key return to the 'on' position? I've seen broken return springs in the column on some cars that would just let the key stay in the crank position unless turned back slightly.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

also, the red wire is your start activation wire. if you got constant power, a wire is shorted or your plug is melted. power should only come from the red wire when in the start position.

I checked the connector, looks alright. The little red wire looks good as well. The key does return to the 'on' position. All the wires as far as I can see look clean with no opens or burns. I guess I'm going to have to go through that wire with a fine tooth combLast edited by Baker; 09-13-2010, 12:10 AM.
