    Throttle Linkage

Anybody replace theres before? Mines sticking and looks like crap. I just ordered a new carb so I was thinking of replacing it to. Are they associated by carb or can they fit different applications?

The throttle cable? What ear car do you have? Only the 79-82 models came with a carb. I believe the carb and CFI cables are the same, but the SEFI ones should be shorter and different.

Anyway, if you're just replacing stock for stock, the cable is easy to replace. The top of the pedal has a hole and a slot in it. Push the plastic bushing out of the hole, and slide the cable up and out of the slot. Remove the clip on the inside that pushes over the metal neck on the cable to hold it against the padding, remove the bolt under the hood that holds it to the firewall, and unhook it from the carb. reverse to install. Clip on the inside to hold the cable against the padding is optional if you destroy it when prying it off.

I just lubed mine up and ran with it. A little PB Blaster in the end under the hood while holding it up at enough of an angle to get it to drain into it. problem solved. now this only works if the cable isn't frayed anywhere.

I put a Lokar cable on my red car, and it worked well. I used a couple thick, sizeable washers at the firewall, and sandwiched the firewall between the washers and the threaded bulkhead on the cable.

I used the orignal bushing, and it worked great.

Incidentally, my white car has the same set-up. I may shorten the cable, but I would caution anyone that tries this.

It is a bitch to get the cable end back on after you have shrotened the sleeve. I did it on my red car, and it took much patience, of which I have very little.

Personally I don't care for anything about the Lokar cable, but thats your option. The stock CFI cables, while not very attractive, will bolt to a carb intake and work with a carb.

Carb/CFI throttle cables are about 22 inches long
EFI cables are 19 inches long
Stock cables are still available to be bought at autozone and places like that.
