So you failed to fix the problem and spent lots of money failing, and Phazer decided that wasting that much money was not that smart. Instead of trying to learn something the expensive and slow method, and possbly (as in your case) still not learn how to fix it.

So you sit there and just try and figure out who is the fool in these two sittuations....

You have an ego, and your "pride" has cost you $10,000 of waste. Learn how to ask people for help.

A smart person can do things on thier own. A smarter person can do anything when they ask for help.

I did, hence replacing the valvebody twice with expensive brand name units that were supposedly "fully tested." When my transmission rebuilder pulled it apart, valves had burrs and other issues.

I did not spend $10,000 on my transmission problems. I only wasted about $2k in a bunch of rebuild kits, various hard parts, the valve bodies, the Lokar cables, and the Phoenix reman. $2,000 over 2 years being under the car every month or so doesn't take long to accumulate. The rest of the $10k was the purchase price, the engine, the warrantied engine's install price, and various other things.

Still doesn't explain how you can give Phazer shit for getting help. You have yet again made an ass or yourself.

And it's kind of irrellivent where you spent it, $12,000 over 3 years that's freakin crazy. Over 13years about that much has been spent on my car. And I've got a new HO engine, new wide ratio trans, new posi diff, upraded gears, suspension, new stereo system.

Just to kind of throw a wrench in all this, how much money you spend on a car over a given amount of time doesn't make it or you better, so really who gives a shit. Can we stop acting like children here and get back to tech advice/info/comments instead of "my dick is bigger than yours" ? Thank you.

I'm not saying it's better because of the money, my point is that he somehow spent $12,000 and has pretty much nothing to show for it. It's nice and clean and all, but I just don't see how that can cost $12,000 unless it was wasted. IE transmission failures and crap.

                      $2750 - Purchase price
                      $1100 - Engine #1 price, self-install
$1300 - Engine #2 no charge, but labor
$2000 - Two years of transmission episodes
                      $2000 - Final transmission rebuild

That's $9,150. If I didn't jack around with my transmission I would have still spent a lot. It kind of sucks having the engine blow a month after getting the car, and subsequently the transmission. At least I have the car I want! :drug:

I've got around 6K in my car. I've had it for a around 3 months.

My 87, which was/is one of the quickest cars around was done for around 4K including purchasing the car. I had that car for 4-5 years.

Well that's a far cry from $12,000, and much more believable. But thank you for clearing up the fact that you are in no position to say anything to anyone here about getting someone else to do the work on their car. Since you have had both of your major projects finished by someone else.

I'm not trying to bash anyone for spending money on their pride and joy, if I had more you bet your ass I'd spend it on the Vic. But Stu you really piss me off at how much of an ASS you are to the people here. Esspecialy when you have no solid ground to even stand on.

                          MrLTD,
I can easily see where $6,000 could go in 3 months in car that you're hot rodding. Building up a car is expensive. But for simply maintaning a car, it is unusual to have to spend $4,000/year, though with the non-exagerated numbers $3,000/year.
