    Ignition wires HELP!!!

Hey this has probably been covered but I can't find it...

Trying to pick up some new spark plug wires. I was going to get the Ford Racing 9mm but it looks like the coil wire is for the old style female setup. I'd like to spend about 50 bucks. What do you guys suggest?

The ford racing set comes with 2 coil wires, one for a Duraspark type coil, and another for the normal TFI coil. Its a longer wire though for the fender mounted cars, so you may have to loop it around a bit.

FWIW, when I bought some Taylor wires that didn't come with the right coil wire, I cut down one of the ones they provided.

Also, I'm interested in getting cut-to-fit wires the next time I buy any, provided I can decide on one that isn't too stupidly expensive. I've gotten tired of wire sets that just never seem to really fit quite right.

                The FRPP wires are nice.

Michael, I have done a few sets of 'DIY' plug wires.

They are ok, but still kind of a pain in the ass. Specifically sliding the boot on, and then pulling it back over the crimped end. Of course there is always the question of whether the crimp was adequate or not. I had Taylors, and bought the special tool for crimping.

The best I've used are the MSDs, which comes with a tool, which you use in a vise. It works better than the pliers, in my opinion.

Is that similar to the one that comes with ACCEL 300+? I have a set of crimping dies that came with the P72 that I *think* were from an ACCEL set, and they look nice. I was always nervous about the Taylor coil wire I modified (all I had at the time was regular pliers), though it always seemed to work OK .....

More than likely the same tool in the Accel kits.

I have a set of Taylor SpiroPro wires that fit quite nicely. I doubt I could have gotten a significantly better fit by cutting them myself, though I would have made the coil wire a little longer. I do have a fender mount coil though, so my needs are slightly atypical.
