What's the part number for the good water pump? I want the cheapest one possible...my water pump's gasket surface is pitted - I could get JB weld in the pits and file it flat but if the pump is cheap enough I could get it.

As for reusing your old water pump, I've always used ultra blue permatex on the timing cover and water pump gaskets, a nice thin coating just to take care of any imperfections in the gasket surface.Last edited by 86VickyLX; 04-19-2012, 05:22 PM.

now that i think of it i probably only need it on one side of the cover-block gasket just to locate it, and on the non-plate sides of the other ones. the backing plate is fine, but there are imperfections in the cover and pump.sigpic
