    Jumping the heater core.

My core's been seeping slooowly since I bought the car, I can smell it, but now the blend door is stuck and I can't even turn on the vent without molten lava coming through.

So I thought until I change the core and fix the door I'd just jump it.

It ended up being a little harder than I thought. I figured I'd go to a hardware store and buy a return of the right OD. Nyet.

I monkeyed at the store with a piece of hose. A number of things would've worked but I thought either stretched the hose end too far or had too small an ID for good flow.

As I was leaving I spotted some fittings designed for the newer PEX system. The copper 90 for 1" PEX is almost perfect! I would've prefered something with a rounded curve but the ID is the largest of anything I could find. And it was $3.

I'll pop it on shortly and watch my temp gauge.

    What do you use?

I had a straight piece of 5/8" pipe I used for a heater core bypass. I had to twist the hose slightly, but I positioned it in a way that it was not kinked. No issues.

I just plumbed the hoses together via the blower cutout (left the hose from the cutout to the core on the core). But if you don't have ATC, that's not an option.

You can get a 3/4" flushing T at most autoparts stores & walmart if you want to loop it at the core.
