90/91 wagons do still have the separated units (pump from level sender) like -1989, but the resistance sweep for the 90/91 gauge, which is what made it so rare/hard to find. Only 90-91 wagons and wagons only needed them, so the aftermarket never bothered to fill the gap.

How do I know if I DO in fact, have that problem? (clogged one-way valve from top of the tank). All I know is it's leaking from that donut, I don't know if that's a secondary result of pressure buildup, or just the fact that the donut is 20 years old and I R&R'd the tank, disturbing whatever seized seal it may have had.
Just replace the valve anyway? Would there be other components to be concerned about? (switch, charcoal canister, the 20 feet of line from the tank to the charcoal canister). Or, just, open it up and let it vent to atmosphere from teh top of the tank?

hook a hand vacuum pump to the vapor line that comes from the tank into the charcoal canister. If you can pull a vacuum easily without hearing the tank go "plink" from sucking in, you've either got a clog in the line or the check valve is stuck shut. Not sure which, but you'll have to investigate further. I'd probably unhook the rubber line at the back to see if the steel line is clear. If thats good, it pretty well narrows the issue to the check valve. If all that works properly, it may be the solenoid for the evap purge is dead, or the charcoal canister itself is somehow clogged solid internally. Put 12v to the solenoid and make sure it opens.

Don't let it vent fromt he top of the tank. the car will reek of fuel all the time.
