I just dynoed my 86 gm and results are:200 ftlb at 3400rpm at rear wheels and 140 hp at rear wheels at 4400 rpm. The car is stock exept it has dual exhaust with no crossover pipe and it ends in front of rear wheels. How much power is at the transmission?

Depends on the brand and type of dyno and a few other things, but you can generally add 20-25%, so 170ish, which sounds pretty realistic since stock dual exhaust cars were 160hp and you've got no mufflers.
Your dyno operate should be able to give you a better idea assuming they aren't useless.

yeah, sounds about right. 140 at the wheels indicates its fairly healthy. Most of them come out around 125 at the back. 160 with stock duals or 170 without the extra restriction of the stock restrictive mufflers and that inverted sink trap mess of an over-axle pipe sounds pretty close. That torque number is disappointing though. In stock form they're good for 280 at a rather lower RPM. That lack of an H pipe is probably hurting you in that realm.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

When i did exhaust the tech told me to spray paint the exhaust and where it burns off thats where h pipe goes. Does that sound right?“Cars are the only thing on earth that will beat you, break you, make you bleed, make you cry, spend all your money, spend all your time, not work and not care that you will love more, the more they abuse you.” -Anonymous

I've heard that before, it's not a bad idea. probably goes out the window if you have cats. I wouldn't be too picky about it if you have the log manifolds on still, as that kills a lot of the "tuning" effect h-pipe placement would have. Just put it where it fits best without being with a couple feet of the rear axle.

It really wouldn't matter 120 hp or 170hp its still slow. Just give it a nice sound and cruise that baby.1984 CV tudor 351W, 4bbl, 5-speed best time in the 1/8 8.39 at 80 with 1.80 60ft time.

Installed mustang throttle body and bored out egr spacer into bored out lopo upper added h pipe and went to dyno yesterday. Results:155 rwhp 280 rwftlb. I think there is still improvement to be made.“Cars are the only thing on earth that will beat you, break you, make you bleed, make you cry, spend all your money, spend all your time, not work and not care that you will love more, the more they abuse you.” -Anonymous

An HO upper and good headers will give a bit more power.
I never dyno'd my lopo, but I was able to run a 16.03 1/4 mile with it. Then I threw the rest of the HO stuff on it and it dropped to a 15.45, and eventually got it to 14.86@92 mphBuilder/Owner of Badass Panther Wagons

I forgot to mention that it is 60mm throttle body.“Cars are the only thing on earth that will beat you, break you, make you bleed, make you cry, spend all your money, spend all your time, not work and not care that you will love more, the more they abuse you.” -Anonymous
