    Head Info

So I've been hearing about these GT40 cylinder heads that you can put on a 351 Windsor engine.

I'm considering replacing head gaskets on my cat this summer and thought to myself: "Well why not get more better heads".

So what is the advantage(s) of these vs the stock ones? Better volumetric efficiency?

basically, considerably improved airflow numbers. The combustion chamber design is also a bit better to give a more effective / more complete burn. More air through the heads needs to be fed by a better intake system and cleared by a better exhaust system to really take advantage of it though. The cam also would make sense to upgrade since the stock one is a bit weenie. This is commonly called a Head/Cam/Intake upgrade, and the exhaust is just generally implied.

So when it comes time to replace the head gaskets, I should do:
      - GT 40 heads
      - intake manifold
      - exhaust manifolds
      - better camshaft
