Did the screen also pop out ? If not, maybe the screen is plugged up. Thread a screw into the screen and pull up to remove it.

+1 check the screen. also, a little ultra black RTV on the grommet to hold it in place may be needed.

Thanks will replace the grommet. I should of mentoined that I replaced the crank case breather filter when I did the upper intake gaskets.. Did not replace the grommet figured it was ok.. Guess that what I get for thinking..

I bought a new PCV grommet for my car and I could pull the thing out of the intake with no effort. I got another one at a different store about 6 months later and it fit snug like it was supposed to. I guess some chain stores just carry the wrong size.

mine had just a slight bit of grip, but not enough to hold it in... so I gooped it up.

By "crankcase breather element" I would assume you mean the screen filled cylinder that goes under the PCV in the intake???

Yes that's what it's called. . At least that's what Rockauto calls it when I bought it last year. I'd call it a basket with steal wool in it...
