    Air check valve

Hey Gents while I was messing w/ the PCV I notice some exhaust smell. Found out that my Air check vavle was rusted through & on the pipe going down to the exhaust pipe. Here's my question can I just run a pc of flexable metal pipe to the air injection diverter valve. I know the part is cheap but does this thing really do anything but smog control?? By the way there is'nt much if any suction coming from diverter valve.. Thanks for all the help.. Much repect to you all.. You don't know how much time & money you all have save me.. She's been a good car for an $800. investment nearly 14 yrs later daily driver and still going strong.

the check valve that goes down to the cats from the diverter valve keeps the exhaust from melting the diverter valve. Ask me how I know.

I think I'm goning to plug it up with a 5/8 bolt with some JB Weld and call it quits. I have no emissions hear where I live so I'm good on that stand point. Thanks Sly for your help .

yeah... when the crossover pipe between the cats rusted off of my car, the pipe in the cats got the fat bolt treatment. When the smog pump seized up, the rest of it came off and I cut the crossover pipe on the back of the heads to be able to turn the bolt on parts around so the flat side would plug the holes on the back of the heads (copper RTV used here to help seal it good) and the rest of the smog crap was removed. 560k6 belt to keep AC working and have a nice day.
