If it's headed for the scrappers, I bet you could sell parts or the whole thing to someone here if it's as clean as you say it is. I am on the lookout for some nice clean front (sans vent window) and rear passenger doors. Your location would be a big factor, for me, anyway.
1990 MGM: $50 E7 heads, HO cam, Holley SysteMAX lower intake, HO upper intake with an Explorer TB. LSC ECM. Lincoln logs into stock dual exhaust. K&N drop in air filter. Wide ratio AOD, 2400 converter with a 3.08 one tire fire out back. Car is less slow now. Then there's the '92 Beater. Dual 2.25" exhaust with shiny tips. Rumbles nice. Super slow. Burns oil too.

Do some diagnostic work first and find out what happened. It may not be the end of it, but unless you look at it you'll never know.

Ltd88, where are you located. We may have a member near you. If you are anywhere in central Ky, I'll see if I can swing by and give you a hand. One of us might just be interested in the car itself if you decide to stop fooling with it.

suspect the ignition module if it got really hot like it sounds like it did.

even if the engine indeed has low oil pressure at idle and the light flickers, they will run a long long time like that as long as you keep oil in it

if the engine is toast and the body and interior are real nice, all the more reason to swap in a 5.0 HO! still cheaper than someone elses used car in most cases.

That seems pretty low all around but all compression testers are different. 3 & 4 are certainly unhappy. Normally I'd say throw a headgasket on it since it appears to be obviously leaking between the cylinders, but from everything else you've said about the engine I'd be looking for a Explorer long block to drop in.

That 0 on the rear cyl on drivers side worries me.

                            yes!

1996 to 2001 ford explorers and mercury mountaineers were available with the 5.0 engine.

1996 engines have the gt40 heads.......these will work with stock manifolds also 1996 has the intake manifold with internal egr that we like to use here.

1997 to 2001 engines have gt40p heads........great heads but because of the spark plug angle needs ford racing stainless steel headers........dec 97-01 intake manifolds have external egr.......some of the 97 production explorers up to sometime in dec 97 have the intake with internal egr.
